Dull tweets get a makeover and BA invites you to race the plane

Expedia has developed a new Twitter campaign which sees ‘lacklustre’ tweets given the brand’s ‘Travel Yourself Interesting’ [#TYI] treatment. All #TYI tweets generated by the campaign will link to a YouTube channel where the films can be watched and shared. The content will feature the words of the uninteresting Tweet transplanted into a more interesting setting in another country. Ordinary tweeters will also be encouraged to hashtag their own dull tweets for a chance to win a holiday to Abu Dhabi. The main #TYI drive kicked off over the weekend with TOWIE star Jessica Wright’s everyday tweet – "Can’t wait for tonight with the girls but hope this rain clears up! Birthday girl tomorrow" – turned into a ditty by The Naked Cowboy in New York. This was then was turned into a short film and tweeted back to the celebrity.

British Airways marked the launch of its Dreamliner fleet on Thursday this week with an online contest pitting the new aircraft against a virtual plane, the ‘Tweetliner’. Using the #RaceThePlane hashtag, consumers powered the Tweetliner as the real Dreamliner flew over the Atlantic to Toronto and each tweeter was entered into a competition to win one of five pairs of tickets to the Canadian city. The race was tracked online at a dedicated microsite.

We all know and love Google Street view – the online map tool that allows you to travel to many of the world’s roads and streets. Now, using the same technology, they are capturing some of the world’s most iconic travel destinations. The expeditions are paired with information about the location, creating an experience much like an interactive travel guide. So, next time you’re thinking of making a trip, jump on Google Treks and scope out a potential holiday destination!

Good news Twitter fans, you could buy shares in the popular social networking site by the end of the year. Twitter recently submitted the forms required to float on the stock market. And how did Twitter announce the plans? By a tweet of course! If all goes to plan, Twitter will be the second major social networking site to offer shares to the public.

And finally – we all know how frustrating it can be to run out of battery when on the move. Worry no more with these six bags/holdalls that charge while you travel #greatidea
