Emirates has said it will reinstate more flights between Dubai and the UK after Thursday’s announcement the United Arab Emirates has been added the UK’s travel corridor.

Emirates Group Chairman and Chief Executive Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: "This is a positive development for the many people in the UAE who have been yearning to spend time with family and friends in the UK, and vice versa.

"It is also a recognition of the UAE’s effective response in containing the pandemic.

"We believe this move will benefit businesses and tourism, and Emirates is ready to reinstate more flight services between Dubai and the UK to serve customer demand."

The travel corridor comes into effect in the early hours of Saturday morning, with flights expected to restart after the current ban on all but essential travel has ended, on 2 December.

Issam Kazim, Chief Executive of Dubai Tourism, said the emirate was ‘ready to start welcoming British visitors from 3 December’.

The addition of the UAE to the travel corridor was welcomed by Gold Medal.

Managing Director Lisa McAuley said: "The announcement of a travel corridor to the UAE is fantastic news, and opens up the opportunity for agents to make some much needed winter sun bookings.

"The team has swung in to action and will be supporting trade partners in the coming days to enable them to make the most of the opportunity that has emerged.

"After so many challenges this year it is wonderful to get this boost – it’ll be a ‘Dubai December’!"
