England win prompts surge in Russia bookings
Flight booking website Kiwi.com recorded an 83% increase in bookings to Russia following England’s win against Colombia on Tuesday night.
As well as bookings, flight enquiries to Russia have also soared by 84%, according to the online travel agent.
Kiwi.com reports a 74% rise in bookings from London to Russia since the tournament began.
Searches from Liverpool to Russia have risen by 160% and from Leeds by 206% since the start of the tournament.
Alison Couper, from Kiwi.com said: "Sporting events always capture the hearts and minds of the British public and nowhere is this more evident than in football.
"The surge in traffic on Kiwi.com to Russia since England secured a place in the finals just goes to show the impact that the love of the game has on consumer flight choices."
