Erin Brockovich lays herself bare to Global agents
Environmentalist activist and consumer advocate Erin Brockovich was the keynote speaker at this year’s Global Travel Group Conference.
She captivated the audience with her inspirational advice, peppered with fascinating and often amusing anecdotes.
Erin announced early on that she is passionate about travel and uses a travel agent, who she described as ‘invaluable’.
Her speech then turned to how the film about her fight to win a major medical lawsuit came about and her struggles with dyslexia, brought on by a childhood head injury.
Top quotes from Erin included:
"I’m fun. I’m not this stiff bitch who comes in and sues the pants of you."
"I’m still overwhelmed by the way my life has turned out. It’s hard to wrap our minds around our lives."
"I had a moment to rise up and a moment to say ‘fuck it’."
"I love disruption."
"My mother, a journalist, used to ask me where is my sticktoitiveness."
"My dyslexia meant I was put in a box and labelled a disrupter. That became my gift."
"We need to stop and think about the choices we’re making."
"You need to embrace yourself, strength, flaws, and all."
"Don’t define yourself by how someone else chooses to see you."
"We’re living in disruptive times."
"Remember to stop and breath. We forget to do that. Find the beauty in what’s around you."
