Eurostar services face disruption in Brexit no-deal
Eurostar trains face possible disruption if the UK exits the EU without a deal, the government has warned.
In the latest no-deal contingency documents, released by the Government on Friday, it says rail services could be suspended without specific agreements with France and Belgium.
Train operators which currently only hold a UK licence, such as Eurostar, will have to apply for new licences, certificates and authorisations from an EU rail regulator to continue services.
"If there’s no deal, we would still be able to pursue bilateral agreements with EU countries to maintain cross-border services," said the document.
"We are also seeking mutual recognition of all necessary documentation so that operators from the UK and the EU can continue to operate cross-border services without disruption after exit.
"Given the large amount of trade and citizens travelling on these services it is everyone’s interests to continue such arrangements."
