Expedia UK boss gets top European job

Expedia UK managing director Dermot Halpin will spearhead a drive for increased co-ordination between its European operations after been appointed chief operating officer for Europe.

Halpin, MD since May 2002, will be responsible for strengthening the brand in Germany, France, Holland and Italy.

He will report to Expedia Europe president Simon Breakwell.

“Throughout his time at Expedia, Dermot has demonstrated exceptional judgement, business leadership and execution,” said Breakwell.

“In his new role he will be the driving force behind Expedia achieving its goal of becoming Europe’s number one travel provider.”

A new UK MD will be appointed shortly
