See the sights
The changing colors from the Duquesne Incline
Open since 1877, Pittsburgh’s Duquesne Incline is one of the only remaining working funiculars in the US. The best way to view in the city skyline is to ride the century-old cable car to the top of Mount Washington. At dusk, expect breathtaking views as the golden hues of the sun sink over the riverbanks and the iconic yellow bridges.
Stroll amongst the fall foliage
With 24 miles of tree-lined riverfront trails and 165 parks across the city, there is no shortage of leaf peeping opportunities. Schenley Park alone offers 456 acres of trails, woods and attractions to explore right in the center of the city.
Taste the cuisine
Escape the chill with a craft coffee
After a day of exploring, warm up with a craft coffee at one of Pittsburgh’s top coffee shops. De Fer Coffee and Tea in the Strip is a firm favorite among locals with inspiring artwork. De Fer hosts regular events including Latte Art contests and trivia nights. Alternatively, Sally Ann’s, a spot with pink decor, vintage games and a projector playing favorites like Breakfast at Tiffanys – is a spot so comfy, it’s hard to leave.
Warm up with a Wigle Whiskey
Stop by the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse or Distillery, both of which offer guided tours. Sample a variety of locally-distilled spirits and learn about the fascinating role Pittsburgh played in the Whiskey Rebellion.
Experience the city
Enjoy five minutes of fame at The Andy Warhol Museum
Pittsburgh is the proud home of the Andy Warhol Museum, the largest museum dedicated to a single artist in North America. Pop art fans can learn about the Pittsburgh-born artist through exhibitions, displays and informative tours. The colorful venue has permanent and rotating exhibitions which give an insight into Warhol’s life and distinctive style. The museum exhibits over 12,000 pieces of the artist’s work, including portraits of Marilyn Monroe and most famed painting’ Coke’. They often hold creative sessions where kids can screen print their own tote bags using Warhol’s signature style.
Cheer on the Steelers
Pittsburgh is home to the top NFL team Pittsburgh Steelers. Take in a game, don the yellow and black and cheer on the team this autumn at Actisure Stadium.
Shop til you drop in Lawrenceville
Check out the Lawrenceville neighborhood’s Butler Street for some authentic shopping. Lined with trendy boutiques, vintage finds and homeware, this district isn’t short of things to browse. The tax free shopping is even more reason to come. Shoppers will be spoiled for choice for food and drink in the area too.
Dance to Disney the Sound of Magic, Heinz Hall
Join The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for DIsney: The Sound of Magic, a symphonic celebration of Disney music, animation and memories spanning 100 years. Ticket holders can expect appearances from their favorite characters and familiar soundtracks from classic Disney movies. Expect memorable movie moments including Peter Pan, Aladdin, Frozen and The Lion King.
125 years of Kennywood
Home to two of the fastest and tallest coasters in Pennsylvania, Kennywood is America’s finest traditional amusement park and a must-visit day for families. This year, the park celebrates its 125th birthday with celebrations jam-packed with events. Opening for Halloween, Phantom Fall Fest is the park’s signature spooky-season event.
