Federal Government launches new Tourism initiative
A new tourism business and accreditation portal has been implemented by the Federal Government to improve access to tourism accreditation.
The portal will provide a single access point for tourism business improvement, according to Federal Tourism Minister Fran Bailey.
It will include on-line accreditation capability for tourism accreditation program managers and individual businesses.
“Tourism accreditation is recognised as an important mechanism for maintaining our competitive edge by offering quality products and services,” Ms Bailey said.
Key aspects of the portal will allow industry to develop and market tourism accreditation products and help raise awareness of accredited products, as well as provide information to assist businesses improve management skills.
The portal will also include links to key industry and government websites.
While the Australian Government has funded development of the portal, it will have no ongoing role in its administration.
Ms Bailey said it would be important for industry to support the portal, at www.qualitytourism.com.au, to ensure the full benefit is realised into the future.
