Federal mask mandate extended
Air travelers will have to keep masking up into next year.
President Joe Biden announced an extension of the Transportation Security Administration’s mask mandate through March 18. It requires travelers to wear mask on flights, trains, buses and in airports and transportation hubs. It is the third extension since the mandate was first introduced.
It was thought it wouldn’t be extended again beyond the current expiry but that was before the emergence of the Omicron variant.
Violators may be fined from $500 to $3,000 for repeat offenders.
