Ferguson Fire forces Yosemite Valley closure
Yosemite National Park announced the closure of Yosemite Valley and Wawona due to the ongoing impact of the Ferguson Fire.
It includes all hotels, campgrounds, and visitor services which caused the cancelation of about 1,000 campground and hotel bookings.
Closures will last until at least Sunday.
Since the fire took hold on July 13, several closures have been phased in at Glacier Point Road, Bridalveil Creek Campground, the Wawona Campground, and the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias.
However Highway 120 is still open for the time being.
The park is working with the Incident Management Team to assess the ongoing impacts on a daily basis.
