Finland to run first UK ad campaign in 10 years
The Finnish Tourist Board is to embark on its first major UK advertising push in a decade.
The new campaigns focussed on luxury and wellbeing will run in a number of national press titles from the autumn and running throughout 2008. Winter and summer breaks as well as Helsinki city breaks will be promoted.
Finnish Tourist Board UK and Ireland director Anne Lind said: “This is a major new push for Finland that aims to build on the big increase in UK visitors during 2006 which was up over 13%. Travel is such a fast-paced and dynamic industry that we need to constantly communicate our messages to the market.”
Full-service advertising agency Smarter Communications has been appointed following a competitive pitch to handle both creative and media for the campaigns.
Managing partner Jeremy Aspinall said: “Our research has shown that people are increasingly looking for different destinations that offer authentic, high quality experiences in a pure environment, full of natural beauty. I am delighted we will be helping Finland carve out a bigger niche in the UK market.”
