Flight Centre expanding in Americas with Mexico acquisition
Australia travel firm Flight Centre is beefing up its presence in the Americas with plans to buy a corporate travel management company in Mexico.
Flight Centre has signed a non-binding agreement to take over Koch Overseas de Mexico, which has a workforce of 100 based in Mexico City, Monterrey, Puebla and Cancun.
The acquisition value has not been disclosed for Koch Overseas which has been in operation for 65 years.
"We know the business and its people well, given that Koch has operated successfully as an independent licensee since 2006, and believe it will be a great addition to our network," said Flight Centre founder and CEO Graham Turner.
"Having a company-owned presence in Mexico is a natural extension of our business in North America, which now includes more than 550 shops and businesses in the US and Canada, and will provide a springboard for further growth."
Flight Centre, which operates about 2,800 stores in 12 countries, expects to complete the deal within the next few months, subject to approvals.
