Flight crew injured on turbulent London bound flight
A British Airways flight bound for London was forced to return to Singapore after severe turbulence.
A crew member was then taken to hospital for surgery.
BA flight 12 from Singapore Changi encountered the turbulence, described as very severe over the Bay of Bengal.
In total, five flight attendants were injured.
One flight attendant required surgery on her ankle.
According to passengers’ accounts many people were screaming
“We’ve apologised to customers for the delay to their flight and provided them with hotel accommodation,” BA said.
“We’re rebooking customers onto the next available flights with us and other airlines.”
The airline described it as a ‘rare episode of severe turbulence.’
It said it was the worst case of turbulence for several years.
