Green Tourism teams up with Travel Counsellors
Sustainability certification firm Green Tourism has formed a strategic partnership with Travel Counsellors.
The collaboration is a response to increasing consumer demand for sustainable travel experiences.
It will help Travel Counsellors’ direct contract hotels gain Green Tourism’s internationally recognised sustainability certification.
Green Tourism’s standard, is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
It allows businesses to demonstrate credible engagement with sustainability issues to leisure and corporate guests.
Green Tourism is also now compliant with the Travalyst coalition criteria, which aims to create industry alignment and consistency in sustainability certifications across travel booking platforms.
Supported by sustainability consultancy Mission: Net Zero, the new initiative offers hotels and hospitality businesses a sustainability roadmap towards earning Green Tourism’s certification.
Participating hotels will be guided through the process, from energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction to water conservation.
Other benefits to partners include 10% off Green Tourism’s annual fees for the lifetime of membership, third-party verification, and tailored guidance for continual improvement in responsible tourism practises.
Travel Counsellors’ August 2024 Travel Tracker report revealed that 45% of holidaymakers surveyed are now considering more sustainable travel options.
Andrea Nicholas, CEO of Green Tourism, said: “This groundbreaking arrangement will help more businesses make positive impacts and cost savings.”
