Major Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines plans to start the first nonstop flight to Los Angeles from China’s interior.
Beginning January 21, Hainan will launch the twice weekly service to little known Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province.
The fast growing airline already has a major presence on the West Coast with nonstop services to Silicon Valley from Beijing, and from Seattle to both Beijing and Shanghai.
It also operates nonstop flights to Chicago, Boston and Toronto.
Like all of these North American routes, the Changsa-Los Angeles route will be operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
"Hainan is proud to bring our award-winning service and elite experience to Los Angeles. With expanding trade, stronger bilateral ties, and now reciprocal ten-year visas between China and the United States, this market is continuing to grow, and Hainan is making a long-term commitment to our customers in China and the U.S," said Hou Wei, vice president of Hainan.
The flights will depart LAX Terminal 2 to Changsha every Monday and Thursday.
