Holland America Line has revealed more details of its Explorations Central (EXC) guest content facility which will debut in May.
The EXC destination experience will roll out on the Westerdam and features hundreds of ‘destination stories’ with touch table maps and port information, along with a team of EXC travel guides to assist with shore excursion planning.
There will also be a Destinations Display, which is interactive tool allowing guests to see where fellow passengers would like to visit.
The EXC channel will air on stateroom TVs broadcasting curated documentaries of destinations on the itinerary.
"We look for ways to really enhance the experience, and it’s great to go places and visit them, but also to have some sort of experience on the ship that helps you with that discovery," said VP of entertainment and enrichment during a media presentation at Port Everglades.
"We wanted to build a world-class physical manifestation of the discovery of the ports to which we sail. We have reinvented our experience around the EXC brand."
Another interesting amenity is the EXC Virtual Bridge which gives guests a peek at the data the ship’s captain and bridge crew use to sail the ship, including real time ocean depth, speed and coordinates.
