Hammer attack at London hotel
A hammer attack at a top London hotel has left three female tourists in hospital.
The women, believed to be in their 30s and from the United Arab Emirates, were attacked at the four-star Cumberland Hotel near Marble Arch.
Police believe they were followed back to the hotel and were the victims of a failed robbery.
One is in a critical condition in a medically induced coma, according to the Daily Mail. Another woman is in a serious but stable condition while the third was described as stable.
Police have cordoned off rooms as the investigation into the attack continues.
Detectives are studying CCTV footage and are questioning hotel staff and other guests.
It is not known if the attacker, who fled the scene, was known to the victims. According to reports, he was not a guest at the hotel.
The 1,000-room Cumberland Hotel is part of Guoman Hotels. It is close to Oxford Street and some rooms overlook Hyde Park.
Guoman also has The Grosvenor Hotel, The Royal Horseguards, The Tower Hotel, and Charing Cross Hotel in London and the Guoman Hotel Shanghai.
