Another Hawaii sightseeing helicopter had a crash landing but all occupants were able to get out mostly unscathed.
Five passengers and the pilot were aboard but all survived.
There were injuries but all are not life-threatening, according to Big Island Mayor Harry Kim.
The chopper, operated by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, made a hard landing and rolled over in a lava field during a ‘Circle of Fire’ volcano aerial tour.
The pilot had taken the helicopter down for a ‘precautionary’ landing after an indicator light flashed a warning of a problem with the tail rotor.
"The safety of our passengers and pilot are our always top priority, and the pilot’s decision to safely land the aircraft is always the right decision. Local emergency services were called, and we have notified the FAA and NTSB," the operator said in a statement.
There has been added scrutiny of the aerial sightseeing industry in Hawaii and the FAA’s oversight.
A tour helicopter crashed in December killing all seven people aboard on Kauai.
Hawaii Senator Ed Case has called for the industry to be scaled back and there has been a push for a complete revamp of the safety regulations and oversight.
