Hong Kong Airlines will launch its first daily service to Auckland, New Zealand later this year.
The direct service will begin on November 10, using Airbus A330-200 jets with a capacity of 283 passengers, including 24 in business class.
"With the success of our service to Australia earlier this year, Hong Kong Airlines is more than delighted to announce this second long haul service, operating daily to Auckland, New Zealand," said Li Dianchun, chief commercial officer of Hong Kong Airlines.
HK Airlines becomes the third carrier competing on the route after Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific.
There has been steady annual growth in travel to New Zealand from Hong Kong and the mainland.
According to official statistics from the New Zealand government, Hong Kong visitor numbers rose 19% and there was a 27.8% increase from Mainland China as of March 2016.
"Leveraging on our connectivity in Asia via Hong Kong, we believe this new service to Auckland will be welcomed by passengers from Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Okinawa, Tokyo, Bangkok and Taipei, offering them more travel options," Li added.
