Hurtigruten hints at expansion
Norwegian coastal line Hurtigruten could be following the road to expansion after chief executive Daniel Skjeldam hinted that the company wanted to boost its fleet.
Speaking at CLIA’s Selling Cruise Conference, he said the line also wanted to build on its "unique" product by introducing more specialist excursions and adding more of a local flavour by sourcing produce from some of the local communities the ships call at.
He claimed Hurtigruten’s strength as a niche operation would help to build future growth.
"We are about creating unique experiences and trips for our guests that they will never forget," he explained.
"We see the rest of the industry as a recruitment platform and when people get a taste, they might want to come back for more.
"We will cost a little more, but they will get a more original experience."
