Icelandic firm develops new flight search engine
A simultaneous search facility across 650 low-cost and traditional scheduled airlines has been created by travel search engine dohop.com.
The Reykjavik-based online firm’s flight search engine includes 80 budget carriers and finds flight connections when needed.
To save time for users, dohop.com offers interactive filters and sorting of search results. It also looks up rates with airlines and travel agent websites where the traveller can go to book flights.
The site’s founder and general manager Frosti Sigurjonsson claimed: “This is the first time that people can search low-cost and traditional airlines simultaneously to find the optimal itinerary for a trip.
“The new dohop.com takes less than five seconds to deliver results from more than 650 airlines. It might actually be the smartest, largest and fastest flight search engine available.”
Icelandair was one of the first advertisers on the site. Marketing and sales senior vice president Gunnar Mar Sigurfinnsson said: “We have been increasing our use of search engine marketing to attract leads direct to Icelandair’s web pages and we feel that dohop.com is a well focused marketing medium that presents our flights in an innovative and useful way for travellers”.
