India gives the green light to restart cruises
The Indian government has given the go-ahead for cruise ships to sail again from 1 October.
With the green light to resume operations, India’s homegrown cruise line Jalesh Cruises will restart sailings from 6 November.
Customers booked on the Karnika ship will receive free rapid Covid-19 tests and once a negative result is confirmed 15 minutes later, they will be able to board the ship.
"We have been waiting to set sail with passengers and we eagerly await November. The health and safety of our passengers and our crew has been and will always be our priority," said Jurgen Bailom, President and CEO, Jalesh Cruises.
"We eagerly wait to welcome guests on board Karnika."
MV Karnika has been laid up since mid-March due to India’s four-month lockdown.
The cruise line commenced operations out of Mumbai last year and is India’s first major cruise line offering multi-destination cruises.
The line’s pre-Covid itineraries included port calls in Goa, Dui and Sri Lanka.
