India set to approve Boeing 737 Max return to service
India is close to allowing Boeing 737 Max jets to fly again.
Boeing has met the India regulator’s requirements, included setting up a Max simulator, according to sources cited by Bloomberg.
The jet has been grounded in India for more than two years although the jet is not widely used in the country.
SpiceJet currently has 13 737 Max planes in its fleet which remain grounded but has an order for an additional 100 with Boeing.
The Max has been re-certified to fly again in dozens of countries with India and China the last two major aviation markets waiting to give the green light.
This week, Boeing conducted the first test flight of a 737 Max plane in China and is expected to get approval to return to service there before the end of 2021.
