India to reopen to foreign tourists
India will start welcoming foreign tourists again later this month. After an 18-month pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the country’s government announced tourists arriving by charter flight will be allowed in from October 15.
It follows a partial reopening in recent months for travellers on business, diplomat or student visas. India welcomed 10.6 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2019.
So far, only 18% of India’s population has been fully vaccinated.
