Investigation after Delta plane dumps fuel on schools
An investigation is under way after a Delta passenger plane dumped fuel over several schools as it made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport.
As a result, at least 60 people, many of them children, were treated for breathing problems and skin irritation. All the injuries are said to be minor.
According to regulations, airlines can dump fuel during emergency landings, but only in designated areas and at a high altitude.
Delta Airlines confirmed in a statement that the passenger plane had released fuel to reduce its landing weight.
It has returned to the airport due to engine problems.
The FAA is now investigating the incident.
