Israel to scrap travel bans to US, UK
Israel is set to remove ‘red’ countries from the no-fly list after a recommendation from the Ministry of Health. It would once again allow travel to the US and the UK, although Israelis should not travel to high risk countries ‘without a good reason.’
Other red countries United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Mexico, Switzerland and Turkey would also be removed from the list. Israel implemented travel restrictions on these countries in December due to a surge of Omicron cases.
Health advisors say the ban now serves no purpose as Omicron has already spread widely in Israel.
