ITTFA Launches Exhibition ‘How To’ Guide. November 2005

The International Tourism Trade Fairs Association (ITTFA) has launched a detailed exhibition guide, entitled ‘Effective Exhibiting Made Easy’, aimed at helping exhibitors participate more effectively in tourism trade fairs.

The 60 page booklet contains ten chapters covering a broad selection of topics relevant to the trade fair industry and follows the entire process of exhibiting from setting objectives, to stand construction, to marketing, promotion, and making the most of your business contacts.

Also included in the guide is a comprehensive list of fairs worldwide as well as details on the ITTFA media partners.

ITTFA, formed in 1992 as ETTFA, in its continuing efforts to contribute to the growth of the industry, has produced the booklet in order to provide guidance to travel organisations that are new to the exhibition scene and also the more experienced travel organisations looking to maximise exhibition results. Tourism exhibitions provide the ideal platform where the smallest company can participate on the same level with the largest multi-national. No other form of marketing, sales or promotion offers the unique opportunity for suppliers to meet their buyers face-to-face under one roof. But simply booking stand space at a tourism exhibition is not enough. With a bit of thought and planning, exhibitors can vastly increase the effectiveness of their presence at tourism exhibitions that will allow them to break into new markets, meet new contacts or develop new business. This guide is intended to help exhibitors maximise their investment and get the most out of each and every exhibition.

Tom Nutley, Chairman of the ITTFA, believes the manual is an important educational tool. He commented, “The original guide published in 1998 was very well received in the industry and filled a gap in the literature that was available to the tourism trade industry at the time. We have now updated this guide to incorporate changes in technology and the marketplace in general. The fundamental elements however remain the same and ‘Effective Exhibiting Made Easy’ acts as a fully comprehensive reference guide for the industry. It provides exhibitors with invaluable information which will insure an increase in the standard and participation of trade shows and can help exhibitors to make the most of the time and money they invest in participating in tourism fairs”.

The guide is endorsed by the World Tourism Organisation which also seeks to encourage the growth and professionalism of tourism fairs. ITTFA is an affiliate member of WTO and the two bodies work side by side in promotion of the industry.

If you would like to receive a copy of the ‘Effective Exhibiting Made Easy’, please contact the ITTFA Secretariat via www.ettfa.org. Alternatively copies of the booklet will be available on the ITTFA stand at member shows.
