Jansen steps down at MyTravel
MyTravel group chief operating officer Philip Jansen has quit the troubled travel organisation.
His resignation comes less than two years since he joined MyTravel from Telewest, where he was managing director of the consumer division.
Mr Jansen was originally recruited as European chief executive in September 2002 but was promoted to chief operating officer a month later.
Meanwhile, former head of MyTravel USA John Bloodworth has been appointed managing director of tour operations and retail in the UK core business.
Mr Jansen is to leave MyTravel on 30 September to become CEO UK and Ireland of food management services company Sodexho Alliance. He has stepped down from the MyTravel board with immediate effect.
MyTravel group chief executive Peter McHugh will take direct responsibility for the UK until a new chief executive for the UK is appointed.
Group chairman Michael Beckett said the company was very grateful for Mr Jansen’s “valuable contribution during this difficult time for the group”.
MyTravel recently reported reduced group losses £199.6 million but admitted the UK market for summer 2004 was “challenging” with margins continuing to be under pressure.
