Leading Japanese hospitality firm APA Group is pushing further into the North America market with the acquisition of Vancouver based Coast Hotels.
Coast’s portfolio of 36 hotels will change hands for about $210 million.
It is being sold by current owner, fellow Japanese firm Okabe Co. Ltd in a share-transfer agreement, the two companies stated in a joint statement.
Hotels under the Coast banner in North America include Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in Vancouver, Benson Hotel in Portland and Waimea Plantation Cottages in Hawaii.
The transaction will be completed in early September, Coast spokeswoman Sarah Kirby-Yung said.
APA Group opened its first hotel in North America last year, the APA Hotel Woodbridge in New Jersey.
