JetBlue has announced it will launch new transcontinental flights to Los Angeles from upstate New York.
The new Buffalo-LAX service will begin on June 16, 2016 and will be the only direct service offered from upstate New York to California.
JetBlue has been serving Buffalo Niagara International Airport for 16 years and is the busiest airport in upstate New York.
"Los Angeles is the most frequent destination for travelers from Buffalo that does not already have a direct flight. In 2013, I asked JetBlue to add this flight, knowing it would be a game changer for regional tourism in Western New York," said senator Charles Schumer.
"JetBlue continues to grow their presence and service within New York State, and I appreciate their commitment to this region. The addition of this flight will not only dramatically increase travel options for Buffalonians, it will also bring even more Canadian travelers through the Buffalo Niagara International Airport."
More than two million Canadian travelers cross the border to use the airport, attracted by lower departure taxes and more competitive fares to US destinations.
JetBlue is offering introductory fares on the new route starting at $99 for a very limited time.
All fares must be booked by today, February 2, 2016.
