Two people were taken to hospital after a JetBlue flight bound for West Palm Beach was forced to divert to Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
The pilot reported a mechanical issue resulting in fumes in the cabin before the Airbus A320 made a safe emergency landing, according to airport spokesperson Andrew Sawyer.
The flight had departed from New York.
Emergency services spokesman Jeffrey Hammerstein told the AP six people were treated by medics, and two more were taken to a hospital.
Hammerstein said none were serious but several people on the flight complained of headaches and a burning sensation in their eyes.
A replacement jet was laid on for passengers to complete their journey to West Palm Beach more than six hours behind schedule, the Aviation Herald reported.
Exactly what caused the mechanical issue and fumes to escape is still unclear
