Korean Air has inked an order of up to 50 widebody Boeing jets.
This marks a significant upgrade and expansion of its international fleet.
The airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding) with Boeing during the Farnborough International Airshow.
The deal comprises 20 Boeing 777-9s plus 20 Boeing 787-10s, and has an option for 10 of Boeing’s largest Dreamliner model.
It comes as the airline edges slowly towards a full merger with Asiana.
Koran Air chief Walter Cho said: “The addition of these aircraft marks a significant milestone in our plan to upgrade our fleet. These new airplanes will elevate passenger comfort and enhance operational efficiency.”
If the full order is completed, Korean Air will have over 200 next-gen aircraft in its fleet a decade from now, including 33 Airbus A350s and 50 A321neos.
