Legoland California Resort has been hit with a class-action lawsuit claiming it has failed give refunds or extend memberships due to the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown.
The complaint says the park hasn’t compensated ticketholders in any way during the closure.
The suit is alleging breach of California’s consumer law, false advertising, breach of contract, fraud, and unjust enrichment.
Lead plaintiff Joyce Case has been seeking a refund for tickets paid for since the park closed in March.
She became ‘one of the many consumers stuck with tickets to a canceled event who have been unable to obtain a refund.’
"Closing of these venues, and cancellation of these events, should have meant that ticketholders were promptly refunded their money – money that in many cases was very much needed for other purposes," the lawsuit said.
"Defendants failed to honor and perform their duties, responsibilities, and obligations under their uniform standardized agreements with their customers, thereby breaching their contracts."
It is seeking a jury trial and asks Merlin Entertainments, Legoland’s parent company, for immediate compensation for payments made for tickets, passes and vacation packages.
