A new, twice-weekly transatlantic flight to San Francisco has been launched from Manchester.
Thomas Cook Airlines’ inaugural San Francisco flight took off on Sunday, confirming its position as the biggest carrier to the U.S.A. from the UK city.
Direct flights to San Francisco from Manchester Airport depart on Sundays and Thursdays.
Manchester Airport commercial director Stephen Turner said: "Manchester Airport is the only UK airport outside of London to offer direct services to San Francisco and gives our 26.5m annual passengers easy access to the West Coast of the U.S.A.
"I am sure this route will be a success."
The route is the seventh direct flight operated by Thomas Cook Airlines from Manchester to the U.S.A.
The company’s chief airlines and hotels officer Christoph Debus, said: "We are the largest long-haul carrier from Manchester Airport and offer the best U.S. leisure destinations for holidaymakers in the north west."
