Manchester trade and tourism are set for a boost courtesy of Hainan Airlines.
The China airline is increasing Beijing flights to Northwest England from four times per week to daily.
The near doubling of capacity will start from summer 2024.
The route is operated by Airbus A330 jets.
Beijing flights will depart from Manchester at 12:15 daily from next summer.
“From next summer, we will become the only UK airport outside London offering daily direct flights to mainland China,” said airport MD, Chris Woodroofe.
“Hainan Airlines’ decision to operate a daily Beijing flight is testament to the success of the current service.”
So far, over 350,000 passengers have flown on the route since it first launched seven years ago.
Peter Han, Hainan Airlines UK GM said: “There is a lot of demand for travel between the North of England and China, in both directions.”
