Marriott International expands into the great outdoors
Marriott International has made two new deals which will lead to the launch of a new outdoor accommodations segment.
The company is acquiring the Postcard Cabins brand which manages groupings of small cabins in rural spots within two hours’ drive of major metropolitan areas.
The current Postcard Cabins portfolio features 29 locations comprising over 1,200 cabins across the US.
It is expected to operate under long-term agreements with Marriott within an outdoor-focused collection
It will then be integrated into Marriott’s platforms in 2025.
“We’re excited to bring the Postcard Cabins experience to a global audience. What started a decade ago with a small group of believers in the power of spending free time in nature, has grown into a national movement,” said Jon Staff, CEO of Postcard Cabins.
Marriott also announced a long-term strategic agreement to add the Trailborn boutique hotels portfolio.
These are properties located in outdoor destinations with a combined 559 rooms.
They include hotels near Rocky Mountain National Park, the Grand Canyon and in Highlands, North Carolina.
Two further properties are upcoming in Wrightsville Beach, NC, and Mendocino, CA.
“As guests are increasingly interested in nature-immersive travel, we are excited to build on the incredible breadth of our portfolio and welcome the Postcard Cabins and Trailborn portfolios,” said Leeny Oberg, Marriott’s chief financial officer.
