MH370 was not deliberately brought down

Investigators into the disappearance of Flight MH370 say closer examination of the wreckage show it did not make a controlled descent into the Indian Ocean.

Some analysts had believed the plane was deliberately brought down, but the latest report from Australian investigators say the aircraft’s right wing flap, known as a flaperon, was in a ‘cruise’ position when it hit the water.

It also says final satellite communications show the plan was in a ‘high and increasing rate of descent’.

Both suggest the Boeing 777 was not in a landing or ditching mode but was plummeting, out of control, in its final moments.

The Malaysian Airlines aircraft disappeared in March 2014 on a flight from Beijing from Kuala Lumpur with 239 people on board.

Investigators are now holding a three-day meeting with other experts to discuss how the search should proceed.
