NCL ship workers busted for alleged drug trafficking

Monday, 11 Mar, 2015 0

A group of five Norwegian Cruise Line workers have been arrested for allegedly smuggling cocaine into the US.

Investigators allege the five galley workers aboard the Norwegian Sun cruise ship picked up seven kilograms of cocaine during a port call in Rotan, Honduras and brought the drugs on to the ship concealed in their underwear.

A federal affidavit said customs officials were suspicious of ship workers Jason Carmichael, Arkine John, Alfred Ince, Teffan Delice and Johnson Cherubin as they left the ship in Tampa.

Investigators tracked them to a hotel where an exchange was alleged to have taken place and they were arrested on their return to the ship.

The men were found to be in possession of more than $40,000 in cash and Western Union receipts for currency transfers.

The five men, along with two women who were found in possession of the cocaine, remain in federal custody.
