New Chief Executive For Decipher.biz
Decipher, the travel and tourism industry’s knowledge portal, has appointed a new chief executive – Paula Quirk Russo.
Chairman Sir Frank Moore said the appointment heralds a new phase for Decipher, launched by Federal Tourism Minister Fran Bailey 12 months ago with strong state government and tourism business sector support.
“Paula has a long association with the hospitality, travel and tourism sector and we are delighted that she will be leading the Decipher team,” Sir Frank Moore said.
Ms Quirk Russo, most recently Regional Director Asia Pacific – Business Development for Pegasus Solutions, said her major goals are to strengthen relationships while diversifying Decipher’s products and services.
“We are already very active.” she said. “For example, the Decipher team is currently devising a new Federally-funded Business Information and Accreditation Portal.
“This will further enhance the travel and tourism industry’s opportunity to access government programs for tourism business as well as some 17 different accreditation schemes.”
Meanwhile, she said a new web interface for www.decipher.biz will be launched within the next few weeks.
Ms Quirk Russo has extensive experience in travel technology management roles at Pegasus Solutions, which provides solutions and services to more than 60,000 hotel properties and travel distributors around the world.
She also held the position of Vice President South Asia and the Pacific for Utell, a third party marketing services and reservations provider which was eventually acquired by Pegasus Solutions.
Prior to moving into the technology arena Paula also worked in senior executive, development, sales and marketing roles with leading hospitality providers including Hyatt, Radisson and Taj Hotels.
Decipher Technologies Pty Ltd is a subsidiary company of the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre, a consortium of some 35 major travel and tourism organisations, including national and State Tourism Organisations, major industry associations and corporations such as Qantas.
It is supported by key foundation partners, such as Tourism Australia, Australian Tourism Export Council, AAA Tourism, Avis, Best Western and Budget.
