New Emirates lounge for Perth
A state-of-the-art Emirates First and Business Class Lounge was officially opened today by Western Australian Tourism Minister Sheila McHale MLA.
The A $2 million Emirates Lounge was constructed by the Smith Madden Group and designed to first-class specifications and fittings for which Emirates are renowned. It was closely modelled on the award-winning First Class Lounge at Dubai International Airport, bearing the same stamp of exclusivity and luxury.
Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations, East Asia & Australasia, Richard Vaughan, said the opening of an Emirates Lounge in Perth signified the airline’s dedication to quality service and its commitment to the Western Australian market.
“Since launching services from Perth in August 2002, Emirates has been committed to providing passengers with the best possible service and travel experience. The Perth Lounge will provide a luxurious sanctuary forEmirates passengers who travel to and from Western Australia.”
“In May 2004 Emirates committed nearly A$19 million, that is US$13.6 million, over two years to develop superior-quality lounges around the world. Australia has been a focus for Emirates in the roll-out of its new Lounge designs, with similar facilities already in Brisbane and lounges opening in both Sydney and Perth this week. The opening of the Perth lounge is timely, as we start four additional flights to Dubai in March, which will increase to a double daily service in September,” Mr Vaughan said.
Tourism Minister Shelia McHale applauded the significant long-term commitment that Emirates is making to Perth and Western Australia.
“Emirates is renowned for its world-class service, and the new lounge will allow Western Australian travellers and our visitors to experience a little more of that famed service,” Ms McHale said.
Lounge facilities are available to First and Business class passengers as well as Gold members of Skywards, the frequent flyer program for Emirates and SriLankan.
