New survey: online booking and in-flight cell phone
Americans prefer technology when booking internet air travel and accommodations but while in-flight, most don’t want to use cell phones, says a new survey.
The survey also showed nearly half of Americans who travel prefer to use an airline’s Web site to all other booking methods.
“This is a huge shift from a few years ago. In the past, we saw a lot of travelers shopping online, but when it came to booking, they called the airlines directly,” said Sheri Lambert, Synovate’s Sector Head of Travel and Leisure. She added:
“Americans are now more comfortable purchasing all sort of items online — including air travel.”
While Synovate’s study found Americans like to use technology to book air travel, it also found the majority did not want cell phones allowed during flights.
“Some people are looking for the convenience of being able to make calls while they are in flight, while others are not looking forward to the disturbance it will cause those involuntarily listening to their conversations,” said Ms Lambert.
