New Wendy Wu boss wants to develop links with agents
Wendy Wu Tours has appointed Glen Mintrim as managing director for the business in the United Kingdom.
The role has been vacant since last October when Mark Bloxham left the company after just one year in the role.
Before that, the UK managing director was Laurence Hicks, who rejoined Wendy Wu Tours for five years after an earlier stint in 2008/9.
Based in London, Mintrim will be responsible for ‘driving the company’s ambitious three-year growth and development plans as well as widening and developing the operator’s important focus on the trade’.
Mintrim was previously managing director at STA Travel, vice president North Europe at Qatar Airways and more recently managing director at The Crystal Maze Live Experience.
Wendy Wu, founder and chairwoman at Wendy Wu Tours said: "Glen’s track record in leading some of the UK’s most profitable and commercially focussed travel companies is very impressive, plus he has the international experience and contacts in this sector making him ideal for the role.
"The company is experiencing a very strong trajectory of growth with year-on-year forward bookings up by 44% for 2020, and Glen’s experience in growing revenues in the travel space will ensure we are well poised to achieve our targets."
Mintrim added: "We have set out an ambitious and exciting three-year plan for the business, a plan that will see us launching a series of new and innovative new products as well as nurturing and developing our links with the trade.
"We absolutely value the continued support of our trade partners and hence will be rolling out more agent incentives and a series of exciting educationals over the next 12 months."
