New York hotels to ban guns

Hotels in New York City have agreed to to ban guns from hotel rooms. The Hotel Association of New York City and the Hotel Trades Council agreed to the firearms ban in hotels.

Action was taken after the US Supreme Court threw out New York’s concealed carry law. The NY state Legislature then passed a bill that allows guns to be banned in ‘sensitive areas’ which includes private businesses, after lobbying by the Hotel Trades Council

“This is really important because it’s a destination marketplace for the world,” Vijay Dandapani President & CEO, Hotel Association of NYC said.

“The focus of this is entirely on the safety of the people coming in here.”
