Norfolk Air Targets V8 Supercar Fans

Thursday, 8 November 20073 min read

Fledgling carrier Norfolk Air is seeking permission to fly a series of charter flights to New Zealand to carry Australians wanting to attend NZ races in the V8 Supercar Championship Series next April.

If approved, the charters will operate from Norfolk Island to Hamilton on April 17, 22 and 24 and May 1, connecting with regular Norfolk Air services from Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne.

“The flights have been timed for V8 Supercar races set down for April 18-20 in Hamilton, New Zealand’s fourth largest city and home to a well equipped international airport,” said Norfolk Air General Manager Ewan Wilson.

Mr Wilson said Norfolk Air had secured race weekend accommodation in Hamilton and was working with wholesalers on special air and accommodation packages for fans wanting to split their break between Hamilton for the race meeting and a stopover on beautiful Norfolk Island.

Owned by the Norfolk Island Government, Norfolk Air presently operates eight flights a week to Australia using a Boeing 737–200 equipped with 98 Economy and eight Bounty class (business) seats.
