Northwest expands European network
Northwest Airlines is to add three transatlantic routes to Europe next year.
The airline is to run the first service between Hartford, Connecticut and Amsterdam from July 1 next year.
Northwest will also launch five flights a week to Brussels and Dusseldorf from its hub in Detroit from May 7 and June 5, 2007, respectively.
More frequency will also be added in conjuction with joint venture partner KLM between Detroit and Boston and Amsterdam.
The airline is to use Boeing 757-200 aircraft for the routes. The aircraft are being fitted with winglets designed to imporve fuel efficiency and offer an extended range.
The aircraft will offer 16 world Business Class seats and 144 in economy, with a seat pitch improved by four inches.
“The 160-seat 757 also allows us to offer service in these new markets as well as provide our customers with more choices through additional frequencies in existing markets,” said executive vice-president international, alliances and informaton technology Phil Haan.
