Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings to acquire Ocean Princess
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings will take delivery of the 684-passenger Ocean Princess ship in March 2016, after a deal was agreed to purchase the vessel from Princess Cruises.
The ship will then undergo a $40 million refurbishment in preparation to entering service in Norwegian’s newly acquired Oceania Cruises brand.
The ship will then be renamed Serena and will join the ships Insignia, Regatta and Nautica in the Oceania fleet.
"The acquisition of Sirena provides measured capacity growth based on the proven platform of Oceania Cruises’ highly regarded mid-size ships," said Kevin Sheehan, chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
Following refurbishment, the ship will feature Oceania Cruises’ signature dining restaurants, Toscana and Polo Grill, and will embark on its first voyage as an Oceania ship in late April 2016.
Details of Serena[s inaugural season will be released in February 2015 and reservations will open on March 4, 2015.
