The day generated tremendous support with 124 runners and ryders (!) from all sectors of the industry including travel agents, tour operators, car rental, cruise/ferry and travel technology companies. Playing under clear skies the Ian Woosnam-designed course was in its normal splendid condition with fast greens and lush fairways.

The event presents itself as an excellent branding and networking opportunity whilst at the same time supporting the Just a Drop Charity which raises money to build wells, hand pumps and health and sanitation programmes in order to give children and their families’ access to clean water close to their homes. The golf day raised in excess of £10,000.
Post-dinner entertainment was provided by Giles Harper, Bob ‘the cat’ Bevan and Frank Docherty’s famous bidding technique.

Winners on the day included Sue Sexton, Future Travel Group, who accumulated 35 points. Ray Brunton of P&O Ferries managed 38 points in a very close fought Men’s competition. Longest drive winners from both sections were the big hitting David Plume of Jetset and Jo Ryzmowska of Royal Caribbean International.
Unluckiest team in the competition were undoubtedly the TelMe Farebase quartet who were beset with misfortune from the first tee.
