A mini-van carrying tourists on the Indonesian island of Lombok has plunged off a cliff killing one person.
The vehicle, carrying customers of Contiki Holidays, veered off the road and overturned.
It took more than one hour for rescuers to free all the occupants.
The dead female passenger has named as New Zealander Danielle Angus, 23. She worked for Contiki but was on holiday with the company at the time.
In an emailed statement to Travelmole, Rae White, director of public relations for parent company The Travel Corporation said: We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our clients has been killed in a vehicle accident in South Lombok, Indonesia at 11.26 am local time Thursday 8 December. She was also one of our valued colleagues at our New Zealand office and naturally we are devastated at losing a friend and colleague."
"Five other clients were injured and are receiving treatment in hospital. It is our understanding that their injuries are not life-threatening.
"Senior company representatives have travelled to Indonesia and are supporting those in hospital to ensure they are receiving the best possible treatment. They are also providing support to the other clients on the tour.
"Our colleagues are doing everything possible to support families, directly affected clients and our people during this difficult time, We offer our deepest condolences to her family – our heartfelt thoughts are with them."
The vehicle was one of a convoy of four transporting Contiki customers but none of these vehicles were involved.
