Ontario law forbids hidden fees in travel ads

Wednesday, 14 December 20163 min read
The Ontario government hopes to end nasty surprises for customers booking vacations with a new consumer law requiring the full ‘all-in’ price to be advertised.
The all-in pricing law will take effect from January 1, Government and Consumer Services Minister Marie-France Lalonde said.
"People across Ontario can now research and buy their vacations and business travel with confidence and without surprises — the price advertised will now be the price paid," Lalonde said in a statement.
The law requires all Ontario’s agents and travel wholesalers to display the full cost including all fees and taxes in all promotional material including print, radio and TV, and online
It has been welcomed by the Travel Industry Council of Ontario.
"All-in pricing provides consistent guidelines for the travel industry when advertising and promoting the price of travel services," said council CEO Richard Smart.
