Ontario pledges $100 million lifeline for tourism industry
The Ontario tourism industry is getting a $100 million boost to help speed up a recovery. Tourism Minister Lisa MacLeod said funds will be distributed via the new Tourism Recovery Program, to businesses running attractions, accommodation providers, and others in the leisure travel sector.
MacLeod said that the funds will support key businesses reliant on tourism with a focus on protecting jobs. It will disperse funds to tourism businesses that have seen a decline of at least 50% in eligible revenue compared to 2019.
